Has this ever been you…
You see a friend’s Facebook/Instagram post on how amazing her life is – maybe she travels the world, maybe she has the perfect body and perfect abs, maybe she has a hugely successful business, maybe it’s simply that she sleeps 10 hours a night! – and even though she is an amazing friend, colleague, and person, this post immediately puts YOU in a bad mood?
Have the rosy-colored posts of Facebook, Instagram, and other social media ever made you feeling crappy?
Or made you question the choices you’ve made for your life?
Well don’t worry, you aren’t alone. The green-eyed monster of comparison reaches out to every one every once in a while… even me!
Here’s another way to think about it…
Would you expect to go out one night, drink 6 margaritas and NOT wake up with a hangover?
NO WAY!
So how can you expect to spend 15, 30, or maybe even 60 minutes a day on Facebook or Instagram comparing your life to everyone else’s and NOT feel bad? And NOT feel like you’re missing something?
It’s just NOT going to happen.
So when you start to think the grass is greener on the other side, remember that if you take the time to water our own grass, it will be just as green.
So are you READY?
Are you READY to get down and DIRTY?
Are you READY to get out the FERTILIZER!?
It’s time to start focusing on your own *ss… I mean grass!
Because the truth is that you and I are each traveling down the path that is meant just for us, the path that God has intended for us. We only stall our progress and hinder our success when the comparison monster takes over, and we get hung up in that nasty comparison hangover that steals our attention from personal improvement.
So today let’s make a vow to FOCUS on making our life the best it can be. Because life IS pretty darn awesome. And it’s only gonna get better WOW girl! Over the next month I’ll be talking about keeping your mind FOCUSED on how to progress personally in your goals, whether they be fitness related or life related.
Take ACTION: No more getting caught! Right now, delete or block who ever it is that is grabbing your attention. Even though they may be a fabulous person, they are not making you feel the way you want to feel! Give yourself some room to expand and some time to take steps toward your goals.
Now I’d love to hear your feedback on this topic. Hit me up below in the comments section with how you are going to get FOCUSED!
